Necessary Mutations in the Marketing Occupations Classification in Romania
Management & Marketing, 2007, vol. 2, issue 1
The article focuses on one of the most critical interface areas situated at the border of marketing management and human resources management. The topic addressed consists in the shifts that should be accomplished as regards the classification of marketing occupations in Romania. The aim of the article is to define the priorities in the process of updating the classification of occupations in the field of marketing. The factors that require such an update are the following: (i) the development of marketing both from a conceptual and an operational perspective; (ii) the need to harmonize the classification applied in Romania with the most advanced in the field of marketing; (iii) the need to ensure the appropriate correspondence between the regulations on the classification of the marketing occupations and the actual occupations existing in the organizational charts of the companies that are present on the Romanian market. The value offered by the article consists in the recommendation of a list of occupations that must be included in the future versions of the Classification of Occupations from Romania (COR). The accession of Romania to the European Union will enhance the need for the above mentioned shifts in the COR.
