Abstract:
We test the sensitivity of the solutions of the p -median model to the shape of the underlying communication network. More precisely, the p -median problem is applied to 17 different networks representing various regular, radial, and circum-radial configurations. This study leads to interesting conclusions in the domain of regional economics and land planning and to striking illustrations of already discussed theoretical problems. This exploratory analysis hopefully opens up a broad avenue for further investigations.
