The Connecticut Economy, 2013, issue Summer
Abstract:
The murder of 26 students and staff members at Sandy Hook Elementary School, shocked the nation and the world, drawing renewed attention to the hot-button issue of gun control. Connecticut legislators quickly enacted new laws that require background checks for gun purchases, ban certain types of weapons, and prohibit the purchase or sale of high-capacity magazines. Spurred by the polls, several other states have adopted similar measures, but spending by the NRA and other gun lobbyists continues to slow legislative efforts.
