Abstract On completion of this chapter you should be able to: Explain the meanings of learning organization and organizational learning and distinguish the differences between the two. Recognize characteristics of the learning organization. Recognize subsystems of the learning organization. Explain the foundations and barriers for building a learning organization. Recognize the role of education in preparing the workforce and recognize the skills deficiencies identified by employers. Explain how and why organizations are creating in-house learning facilities.
