Abstract:
Abstract Every company has a future story, whether it knows it or not. A crucial question is: Is the company at least partly in control of this future story, or is it fate that writes the story? A second important question concerns the nature of the future story: Does a company rely on a closed or an open story setting? Closed story settings motivate employees by fear and offer few options, while open stories motivate employees by giving the work in the company a deeper meaning and offer lots of options. This paper explains the difference between both story styles and shows the process for developing successful future stories.
