Chapter 4 in Strategic Human Resource Development in Practice, 2022, pp 69-80 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The fourth industrial revolution is changing both the strategic ecosystem of organizations and the way in which talent management processes are executed. New talent management challenges are emerging including talent acquisition, reskilling, and cultural agility. It is important that executives and managers over seeing HRD practices have an understanding of what AI is, how it has and will continue to evolve, and current and potential applications in talent management. We begin with a brief discussion of how AI has evolved over the past three decades followed by a definition of what AI is and isn’t. A framework providing a foundation for assessing the potential applications in one’s function is described. We then turn to how the age of digitalization is changing the ecosystem of HR in general and HRD in particular, as a business partner in the C-suite, and the future of talent management.
