Chapter 5 in Strategic Human Resource Development in Practice, 2022, pp 81-92 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract The increased availability of data in the digital age provides Human Resources (HR) professionals with an even greater opportunity for driving business impact than ever before. The digitization of life in the twenty-first century has ushered in a period of “big data,” with an astounding volume generated on a daily basis as part of the economic engine (Bersin, 2014; Daash, 2020; Dahlbom et al., 2019). Data resides both within an organization and about that organization—including customers, internal operations, and the workforce. This data, when managed effectively, can be leveraged for impactful analytical insight to inform policies, practices, and leadership decisions in more dynamic, real time, and systemic ways; for example, driving greater alignment of talent plans to change underway within the broader operating environment (Levenson, 2014; Fairhurst, 2014; Smith, 2013).
