Abstract: Abstract Key Messages Supportive management practices are more likely to improve workforce sustainability. The HR outcomes that influenced remote health workforce sustainability were associated with professional isolation, empowerment and remuneration. Without management practices HRM policy choices do not result in the HR outcomes that influence remote health workforce sustainability. The I-HRM-SRHW framework can assist remote managers to implement localised HRM policies and improve workforce sustainability. Remote managers need to know the key ingredients for workforce sustainability; then determine the combination and quantity of these ingredients suitable for their particular remote context.
