Chapter Chapter 3 in Platform Business Models, 2021, pp 35-44 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter elaborates on the concepts of network effects—same and cross-side network effects, and the direction and strength of network effects. This chapter dwells on how multi-sided platforms create network effects and leverage them for growth. It also contrasts how products and platforms are different from each other and how some product firms can be transformed into platforms.
