The Westerschelde Tunnel Project
Mario Vanhoucke
Chapter Chapter 9 in Project Management with Dynamic Scheduling, 2012, pp 173-183 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter presents a real-life project example where the minimization of a bottleneck resource’s idle time is the scheduling objective. The project is an illustration of a project scheduling problem with a work continuity scheduling objective as discussed in Sect. 8.2.1. The chapter illustrates that the use of dedicated scheduling algorithms can lead to improvements in the cost outline of the schedule. Various parts of this chapter have been published in Vanhoucke (2006b, 2007).
