Chapter Chapter 5 in Platform Business Models, 2021, pp 71-82 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter elaborates on the different value architectures around platforms—increasing efficiency/reducing costs, providing a lot of choices, creating communities, and reducing friction in transactions (reducing transaction and bureaucratic costs). These value opportunities provide for creating four core values of platforms—discovery (reducing search costs), matching (two-way search based on certain criteria), transaction (reducing transaction costs, friction in the markets), and evaluation (providing for feedback loops for improving quality and aiding better discovery), in other words, DMTE as a cycle.
